The GMS Family Fund provides financial assistance to employees of GMS and its subsidiaries who have experienced unexpected catastrophic events such as:

  • Illness
  • Injury
  • Death
  • Natural Disaster (severe weather, flood, tornado, etc.)
  • Fire
  • Violence/Domestic Abuse
  • Vehicle Accident
  • Urgent Medical Needs

What Types of Requests are not Eligible for Assistance?

  • Loans or cash advances on future pay
  • Financial hardship caused by poor spending habits
  • Loss of wages due to lay-off, furlough, termination or reduction in work hours
  • Loss of wages due to job related injuries covered by workers’ compensation or short-term disability
  • Outstanding medical bills
  • Tax payments
  • Credit card debt
  • Litigation/Legal fees
  • Personal loans
  • Divorce or separation
  • Routine car or household maintenance
  • Funeral expenses for non-immediate family members

Am I Eligible?

No one expects the unexpected to happen. This is where the GMS Family Fund can step in and provide assistance if you are eligible to receive a grant.

To be eligible to receive a grant from the Family Fund, you must:

  • Be an active, full-time employee of GMS or one of its subsidiaries
  • Have been employed for 90 days or more
  • Have experienced an unexpected catastrophic event within the 6 months prior to the application date
  • Have not received the maximum eligible grant amount per catastrophic event in the past 12 months
  • Have not received two Family Fund grants in the past 12 months

How Do I Apply?

To apply, you must download and complete the appropriate GMS Family Fund Application below. Once you have completely filled out the application and provided the supporting documentation, you may submit it via mail or upload online. Please be sure to include proof of income, proof of event, and all bills for which you are requesting assistance with your application.  

What Happens After I Apply?

Once you have submitted your application it will be reviewed by the Family Fund Grant Officer to ensure it includes all needed information. If the application is complete, your identifying information will be removed from the application to protect your confidentiality. Then it will be submitted to the GMS Family Fund Approval Committee, a group made up of GMS and Subsidiary employees, who will decide if a grant will be awarded. You will be notified of the committee’s decision within 3-5 business days. If approved, you will receive your GMS Family Fund tax-free grant in the form of either a check or a prepaid debit card. If denied, you will receive a letter detailing the reasons why the grant was denied.
